I charge my tablet from my Gateway laptop usb port and it charges nicely. When on the road I use a duel port travel charger with a 1 amp and 2 amp port for charging tablets. Works great!

If you own a 7" Toshiba Thrive or Excite tablet — this is your ONLY choice for a USB charging cable, so you'll be forced to deal with it's chief shortcoming — the bulky, stiff cable — which is impossible to wrap & pack discreetly in any slim carry-case designed for 7" tablets. Love it or hate it — this cable is identical to what originally shipped with your tablet… That said, this cable is designed for connecting to a high-power USB port or adapter — like the 10-watt adapter originally supplied with your tablet. Although many USB chargers may be physically-compatible — most are NOT designed to supply the power needed by your tablet, so your tablet may charge very slowly or not at all, unless the cable is connected to an adapter or port that's rated to supply at least 10 watts continuously. Some low-power adapters, like those intended to charge cellphones, may even temporarily shut-down to prevent overheating and burn-out; this is NOT a fault of the tablet or charging cable. On the other hand, well-designed USB 3.0 powered hubs and USB 3.0 laptop ports should be able to supply the power needed to charge your tablet — providing that the tablet's battery isn't almost completely drained starting-out, and no other USB devices are being powered or charged at the same time… A final point — If you love your tablet and plan on keeping it around for a long time — buy a spare cable NOW. Toshiba Marketing is notoriously unsentimental, and Toshiba-branded accessories quickly disappear from the marketplace, once an associated product is discontinued.

This tablet is wonderful, that being said, the charging cable is horrible. Out of The year that we've owned this tablet, we've gone through 2 of these power cables. This wouldn't normally be a problem if the cables weren't proprietary and expensive.

This chord will not work on a Thrive 10' tablet. The plug is correct but will not connect because the shielding is too big for complete connection.
